Top of the Morning, Enyimba Family!
Another away game, another pleasant result. We start the week with another precious point in our coffers. The boys battled and earned a draw against Shooting Stars Sunday evening.
Here are 4 things we learned as the Elephant proved too tough for the Oluwoye Warriors.
1. Still Unbeaten Against Shooting Stars:
Let’s start with the obvious—we’ve yet to lose to Shooting Stars in 2024. In fact, they haven’t even managed to breach our defense once. Yes, we haven’t scored against them either, but that’s a minor detail. They should count their blessings we didn’t give them a three-peat this year.
For all their history and regional clout, Shooting Stars isnt showing that they are more than just another big fish in a small pond. We, on the other hand, transcend these “village champion” labels. Taking a point off them? That’s us being respectful—because the goal was to take all three!
2. Yema outwits the Oracle:
If Ogunbote isn’t calling for a backroom staff meeting this morning to figure out what went wrong, I’ll be surprised. They hit the crossbar, tested Ani Ozoemena more times than they can count, and threw everything at us, yet still came away empty-handed. Why? Because Yema had a plan.
Without key players like Daniel Daga, Clinton Jephtha, and with Eze Ekwutoziem coming off the bench, Yema played it smart—get what we could and walk away with something. And you can say, this is Mission accomplished.
3. Our “No. 1” Keeper? Doesn’t Seem to Matter!
Ani Ozoemena had a standout performance yesterday, outshining everyone who touched the grass at Lekan Salami Stadium. But let’s not forget, we started the season with him, switched to Nathaniel Asibe, then came back to Ani.
The competition between the two is keeping them sharp, and it’s working wonders. Neither has slacked off, and if this friendly rivalry continues, we’re in safe hands—literally. Just don’t nap on us in any crucial games, guys!
4. It’s Shaping Up to Be One of Those Seasons:
You know the type—the kind where every point matters, and it all comes down to the wire. The big boys are jostling for early leads, while the outsiders and newcomers are trying to stake their claims.
Yesterday’s point could be the difference-maker later on. If we keep flexing our muscle and maintaining a fortress at home, we’ll be right back where we belong—at the top. With a deep squad and some smart rotation, this season could be the one. La Decima, anyone? We’re Enyimba, after all—like Oliver Twist, we’re always hungry for more.
So, there you have it. I hope I’ve convinced you that this point from Adamasingba is worth treasuring. And when we (hopefully) add three more against Niger Tornadoes on Wednesday, we’ll all be feeling even better.
