Good Morning!

There’s only one place to start this morning – kudos to the Super Eagles for booking their AFCON ticket last night. The most sought after striker in Europe did salvage a point for us in a keenly contested game. Although the AFCON Qualification happened even before the first whistle. Did that play into the minds of the players and ultimately our performance waned? Maybe.

Good thing they got that job done although their World Cup Qualification status is different kettle of fish. However, for every Enyimba and football enthusiast in the South East, Sunday’s Abia derby between Enyimba and Abia Warriors at Umuahia Township Stadium is most looked forward to at the moment.

This clash always delivers an intense battle for pride, tactical supremacy and vital points in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). Enyimba, nine-time league champions, sits third with 19 points from 11 games. Recent draws against Bayelsa United and Remo Stars have left Coach Yemi Olanrewaju Daniel seeking urgency.

Enyimba’s impressive record against Abia Warriors (11 wins out of 17) boosts their confidence. Coach Yemi will likely deploy a strategic system balancing defensive solidity with swift attacks. Daniel Daga and Clinton Jephta will be pivotal in exploiting spaces and making decisive runs.

On the other hand, Coach Imama Amakpakabo’s Abia Warriors desperately needs victory after back-to-back defeats. Abia Warriors will rely on Ekpo, Megwo and Paul Samson’s pace and creativity.

This derby embodies Abia’s strength, with two teams in the top tier, showcasing the state’s football prowess. Expect tension, emotions and pressure as both sides fight for a win.

Coach Yemi will emphasize resilience, mental toughness and set-piece exploitation. Coach Amakpakabo will deploy compact defense and quick counter-attacks hoping to catch Enyimba off guard.

Will Enyimba’s experience and dominance prevail, or will Abia Warriors pull off a stunning upset? The excitement is building, and Sunday can’t come soon enough.

Until next time
