After Enyimba’s CAF Confederation Cup win, Coach Yemi Olarenwaju voiced concerns about the Nigerian Premier Football League’s talent drain.

“We develop top goal scorers, but they’re gone when we need them most,” Olarenwaju said. “It’s not just Enyimba’s problem; it’s a league-wide issue.” He also noted Enyimba’s struggles against Etoile Filante: “Our defense was solid, but we missed scoring chances.”

The NPFL’s talent drain hurts Nigerian football, making it less competitive in Africa and less attractive to fans and sponsors. To turn things around, the league must keep its best players.

Now, Enyimba turns its attention to the league. They host Lobi Stars on Wednesday, September 25th, at 4pm in Aba, aiming to kick off their campaign with a win.
