The thrill of making that journey from the Academy to the First Team is unmatched! I was stoked when Enyimba announced the promotion of David Eke and Orkuma Tobias to the first team. I’ve had the pleasure of watching Tobias shine in our feeder team, and I knew it was only a matter of time before he made the cut.

What a statement by the club, giving the young guns a chance to prove themselves on the biggest stage. I caught Orkuma’s impressive cameo against FC Kallon, and I’m eager to see more of David Eke in action.

It’s a shot in the arm for the feeder team, knowing that their hard work can earn them a spot in the senior team. It’s a tried-and-tested approach that’s worked wonders in Europe, where some of the game’s biggest stars have risen through the youth ranks.

Scanning through Orkuma’s social media, I saw friends and old teammates congratulating him on his achievement. He’s now an inspiration to his peers, proof that dedication and perseverance can take you to the top.

This is a win-win for everyone – the feeder team, the coaches, and the club. The coaches can take pride in nurturing talented players, while the club’s reputation gets a boost. And who knows, maybe we’ll see more of our homegrown stars making waves internationally, just like Chibueze Izuogu is doing in Norway.

All the best lads.
